Discover Shabbat Libya

Shabbat or former Cyrene, capital of Cyrenaica and the grand centre of Hedonistic philosophy, was destroyed in the year 346 BC by an earthquake. There, you will find countless ruins, including Roman baths, the sanctuary of Apollo, a Greek theatre, the temple of Zeus, tombs carved on rock and old church mosaics. This city was home to a population of around 100,000 and was linked to the Port of Apollonia whose relics are also worth visiting.
