Lithuania is seemingly the flat country of the Baltic (its highest peak is 985 ft!) Yet, it has a great variety of landscapes, thousands of lakes, sinuous rivers, hundred-year old forests and ancient villages. There are four National Parks in the country.
Lithuania is an authentic country, attached to its traditions. Its folklore culture consists of dances and songs, among other things. Lithuanian gastronomy reveals the unusual flavours of Karaite cuisine. The festivals, whether religious or other, give rise to many entertainment activities and events.
Several unusual sites can be visited in Lithuania: indeed, it is here, not far from Vilnius, that you can explore Europe's geographical centre (Europe as a continent), as well as an archaeological site, Kernave, where the first traces of Lithuanian history were unearthed, continuing a long housing tradition which began in the Paleolithic age.
