Located just a few minutes from the capital, Port Louis, this ecotourism centre offers visitors a fabulous journey back in time. Indeed, the life of the Mauritians as it was when the country was still known as Isle de France has been reconstructed here. Among other things, it boasts an old sugar mill dating from the 18th century, a traditional distillery, and even some old horse-drawn carriages. The surrounding tropical forest can easily be discovered on foot, by Land Rover, or on horseback. There are many possibilities for excursions that last anywhere from half a day to a full day. One of them that we particularly liked was the train ride on Lady Alice, an old-fashioned locomotive. There are four restaurants here where you can enjoy lunch or dinner.
