Despite being a large city of the Montenegro coastline, Bar has little to offer in terms of tourist attractions. This is the largest port in the country and the arrival and departure point for ferries travelling back and forth from Bari in Italy. The old part of the city, Stari Bar, is some 6mi from the port and is a charming little place, built against the mountain face, with steep little roads that lead to the fortifications surrounding the oldest part of the city. The place is now uninhabited and nature is beginning to reclaim some of the older buildings. You have to pay a fee to visit the sight, but it's worth it for the pleasure of the walk, particularly if you like old stonework.
