    Standing high above the Campillo de Dueńas in northeastern Spain, Zafra Castle is set to have a starring role this season. Through a series of flashbacks, we will reportedly meet Ser Arthur Dayne, known as the best swordsman in Westeros. We might also see how Lyanna Stark died in the Tower of Joy...

    An hour to the north of Barcelona, it seems like the medieval town of Girona may well be the setting for Oldtown in the city of Braavos. Crews have been spotted at Girona Cathedral, which stands high above its surroundings on a sweep of steps, as well as the old Jewish Quarter and the Arab Baths.

    Already a favourite location amongst fans for its stunning views and odd rock formations, the Bardenas Reales Natural Park is still shrouded in mystery. It could be that dragon queen Daenerys Targaryen will meet another Dothraki tribe here.

    Known as the 'City in the Sea', Peńiscola is also due to make an appearance in Game of Thrones Season 6. The beautiful fortified city, in the province of Valencia, may act as the setting of either Dorne or Meereen.

    Though crews were spotted all over this southern Spanish city, it's still unknown when or what its Alcazaba castle will feature in the new season. Rumours are rife that it is one of the locations of recently introduced kingdom Dorne.


As season 6 of Game of Thrones gets well and truly underway, rumours have far from abated as to what it may bring. With a host of brand new locations, as well as old favourites returning to the screen, it looks like season 6 could well be the most picturesque yet.
