Best destinations for the spring bank holiday

Spring in Europe is pure joy - the scenery is vivid and bright, the weather is perfect, there are no big crowds, and you can feel the vibrance and happiness this season brings. Winter is gone and sunny days are coming. Trees are in bloom, love and sweetness are in the air. Spring is the perfect season to discover the most beautiful European destinations in Greece, Portugal, France, Ireland, Croatia or Spain. So if you're eager to find the best places to visit in Europe in spring, but not quite sure which destination to choose, here's a roundup of cities and regions that are totally worth exploring.

1. Stavanger, Norway

Stavanger is a beautiful destination located in Norway. It is famous among trekking lovers and lovers of the most beautiful landscapes in Europe. Although it hardly ever snows in Stavanger (in comparison to other cities in Norway like Bergen), it's so pleasant in spring with the trees in bloom and the beautiful houses of Stavanger illuminated by the sun. 

 

If you are adventurous, put on your trekking shoes and set off to discover Kjerag that is ranked among the best trekking places in Europe. There are many beaches in the region (along the coastline of Jaeren) ; they are perfect for fauna and flora watching. The highest rated hotels in Stavanger are the Thon Hotel and the Clarion Hotel for their excellent value for money; they are situated in the heart of the city.

2. Dublin, Ireland

Dublin, the capital of Ireland, is even more alive on sunny spring days with numerous music and cooking festivals, walks and discoveries. If you have the opportunity to go to Dublin in early June we recommend Ireland's largest garden festival "Bloom in the Park" in the Phoenix Park; it is one of the most beautiful city parks in Europe. Book a priority entrance ticket to the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin (you will be offered a pint of beer) or a Giant's Causeway full-day tour from Dublin. The most appreciated hotel is "The Marker Hotel" in the heart of Dublin's cultural district and Ariel House in the leafy suburb of Ballsbridge.

3. San Sebastian, Spain

San Sebastian in Spain (the Basque country) is a dream destination, a unique place in the world. The region has a strong identity, traditions, a quality of life, a relationship with nature and different elements. San Sebastian is both traditional and modern. The gastronomy (only local products) is very fine with a touch of modernity, creativity, poetry and fantasy; it is unique in this region of the world.

7. Krk Island, Croatia
