NatureUnited States of America
It is always difficult to find a holiday destination that will suit everyone in the family - that was until we discovered Costa Rica. With exciting adventures and captivating sights for every age, this could be the best spot for 2017's out-of-the-ordinary family holiday.
Costa Rica boasts a variety of beaches, many of which are perfect for kids with gentle waves for swimming and snorkelling, whilst others offer surf lessons for children from the age of 5.
Nature and wildlife
What better way to get the kids excited about wildlife than taking them to one of Costa Rica's wildlife reserves or national parks. There are places to see monkeys, turtles, exotic birds, beautiful butterflies, reptiles and hundreds more species.
Volcanoes and hot springs
In Costa Rica you can take the kids to peer into the enormous crater of a volcano, marvel at the bubbling mud pools or take a dip in their hot springs.
Canopy tours through the jungle
A more exciting way to explore Costa Rica's vast rainforests is from above. Take a canopy tour zip-lining through the jungle (younger children can be attached to a guide), or walk across hanging bridges.
With a type of river rafting suited to all ages (and fears!), this is a water-splashed activity which will get your children's adrenaline flowing.
