The most popular countries in the world have been reaveled in a new list by the UNWTO. We have compiled a list of the 10 most visited countries in the world along with the number of visitors they get each year.
France - 84.5m annual visitors
Despite the locals being often described as "unwelcoming" along with the language being a barrier (at least for some), France has made it to the top of the list. With its easy accessibility from the many European countries whose borders it shares coupled with its numerous heritage sites, exceptional food, incredible wine, beautiful coasts and of course Paris, frankly it is little wonder it is at the top of the list.
USA - 77.5m visitors
New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Florida... there are 50 diverse states to choose from, each with a variety of cities and landscapes to explore, weather, people and food. It may be more difficult to reach than Europe, but that does not stop people from continuing to flock there each year.
Spain - 68.2m visitors
For Brits, Spain remains the top place as a holiday destination. Madrid, Barcelona, the Balearic Islands, Seville, Malaga; why wouldn't tourists want to go there? Sun, sun and more sun, whether its beaches or cities or mountains, history or art, food or drink, it is a place we all go back to year after year.
China - 56.9m visitors
Being the country with the largest population in the world, it's pretty impressive that the number of visitors can match that. The reason behind China's popularity is that due its size it is a county of extreme variation. The unimaginable natural landscapes, the breathtaking architectural feats, topped of a rich cultural scope why in the world wouldn't you want to visit?
Italy - 50.7m visitors
Italy is home to some of the most beautiful and picturesque cities in Europe, each abundant with history, culture, art, museums and of course food.
