To celebrate the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament taking place in France, holiday rental company HomeAway has created a designer apartment inside the Eiffel Tower. Visitors have never been able to spend the night in the Parisian landmark before now, but a few lucky competition winners have already slept under the Iron Lady's watchful gaze.

Located on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower, 188 feet above the ground, the apartment has been transformed from an unused conference room into a two-bedroom flat with a living area and a terrace.

HomeAway appointed French designer Benoit Leleu to create the space. Inspired by Paris's iconic Haussmann style, it was unveiled on Friday night to coincide with the first match and will stay in place for the duration of the tournament.

To be the first guests to stay overnight in the apartment, HomeAway asked over 150,000 competition entrants "What would you do if the HomeAway Eiffel Tower Apartment was all yours for a night?" Four lucky winners were announced on Friday, the opening day of the Euro Cup.

But if you missed out on this unique experience, fear not. The apartment will also host other events throughout the tournament, including live broadcasts of the matches. It is also giving away 500 tickets a day for special visits to the space.
