On August 25th French redheads will be given the opportunity to have the last laugh when the country hosts its very first festival in honour of those with red hair. Dubbed Red Love the festival will take place in the city of Châteaugiron in the northwestern French region of Brittany.

The festival is the brain child of Pascal Sacleux, a photographer who once organized an exhibition to highlight the prejudice faced by French redheads called "Brittany: Freckles rock." Sacleux says that it was during the exhibition that he had his lightbulb moment to host the festival. "This kind of festival already existed in many European countries, England, Scotland, Ireland or the Netherlands in particular, but nothing in France," Sacleux told Le Parisien.

Some 3,000 people are expected to attend the festival which is open to both redheads and not.
