Rushing down a pearl-white mountain, making fresh tracks on newly fallen snow while the whistling wind streams past your ears, poles in hands, helmet on head - very important that one - and sleek new skis for shoes; Canada is best experienced on skis. Here we give you ten of the best ski resorts in Québec to help you choose which piste is right for you.

    Mont Orford

The favourite haunt for many a ski-loving Québécois, Mont Orford boasts consistently immaculate snow and an atmosphere like no other. For unadulterated exhilaration, streak down the famous four-kilometre piste or keep to the resort's large beginner-friendly areas. There's a place for everyone.

    Le Massif de Charlevoix

Le Massif de Charlevoix is an absolute must, whether you are Hermann Maier or Joe 'I forgot my boots' Bloggs. With stunning views over the Saint-Laurent and the Appalachians, it is a one-of-a-kind resort. For the bolder skier, there's the Olympic run, the 42, or ever the Double Diamond which stretches over 2km. Renovated just last year, Le Massif de Charlevoix is unmissable.

    Mont Saint-Anne

The resort of Mont Saint-Anne is a favourite with locals and tourists alike. It's also a Mecca for adrenaline junkees. If you find yourself among this contingent, try the S and Super S pistes for hours of unabridged enjoyment. Simpler runs make Saint-Anne accessible to all, and given that more than four metres of snow fall here through winter, there's plenty to go round.

    Mont Tremblant

One of the most famous resorts in all Québec, Mont Tremblant is as magnificent as it is popular. If you are a beginner in the fledging stage of your skiing career, the recently introduced and much less hectic P'tit Bonheur is the perfect spot to launch your slalom career.

  • Owl's Head

    Owl's Head

Owl's Head is a resort generally reserved for the most advanced, in-the-know skiers. However, more and more people are becoming aware of its allure. The most unmissable piste is Lilly's Leap, an accessible track that will launch you into exhilaration. Off piste, though, is where you will find the most capable skiers and the most enjoyment. With the mountains to yourself, you can revel in your jaw-dropping surroundings.

There is no better way to spend your winter than waltzing down the pistes with a grace that none of us can manage on feet rather than skis - that is, unless you're Ed Balls dancing the Salsa to Gangnam Style. Canada is one of the most sure-fire bets to guarantee world-class snow and world-class skiing. These top ten are every bit as good as anything that you will find on the planet.
