Discover The Lofoten Islands Norway

The Lofoten Islands are a popular summer destination for walkers, cyclists, mountaineers, and fishermen, who come to make the most of the endless daylight. They are one of the biggest tourist draws in Norway, proving especially popular with nature lovers. The distinct landscapes of this 75 mi long archipelago can be recognised by the granite summits that remain covered with snow all year round. The islands are separated from the rest of the country by Vestfjord. They enjoy a pleasant climate (around 0 degrees in winter) thanks to the warming effect of the Gulf Stream. The most popular and typical kind of accommodation is, without a doubt, the 'roburer', a kind of shack built by fishermen on stilts, jutting out over the water.
