Palaces, castles and churches impress due to their vastness and their emphasis on detail. Most of all, it is the diversity of styles which makes you want to visit everything, a marvellous token of the country's diverse history. The Romanesque, Gothic, Manueline and Baroque architectures bring to mind the unquestionable influence of Europe, Islam and India all at once.
