Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Lake Baikal is located in southern Siberia, in eastern Russia. At over 370 miles long, it alone represents 20% of the total volume of freshwater on earth, and more than 300 rivers and streams flow into it. The lake is very important to the inhabitants of the area, and they call it the "Pearl of Siberia". In summer, you can swim in the lake, and in winter, you can walk on it, as the ice that covers it is solid!
