Discover The Golden Ring Russia

The Golden Ring is an absolute must on any cultural tour of Russia. It is home to the ancient cities of the tsars and princes of Holy Russia, with their high-walled kremlins and gold and blue-domed monasteries. Built between the 11th and 14th centuries, this group of fortified towns on the banks of the Volga and not far from the Nerl River was one of the country's major religious and artistic centres. Here you can admire a multitude of golden domed citadels. The kremlins, churches, cathedrals and monasteries of Serguev-Possad, Pereslavl-Zakesski, Rostov, Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Souzdal and especially Vladimir, the capital of former Kievan Russia, are some of the many gems for you to explore on an excursion outside of Moscow. Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Pereslav-Zalevsski, Rostov, Vladimir, Suzdal et Serguiev-Possad are the seven main towns of the Golden Ring. Vladimir and Suzdal are classed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, in particular the masterpieces that are the Collegiate Church of St Demetrios and the Assumption Cathedral.
