Discover Le pays Bassari Senegal

The Bassari country, which has recently been added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, is located between Senegal and Guinea. On the Senegal side, it lies practically entirely in Niokolo-Koba National Park. On the Guinea side, it isn't as easily accessible because some of the villages can only be reached on foot or on two wheels. The Bassari people have some very engaging customs and traditions that visitors may find very interesting. Indeed, visitors come here to get a taste of the way of life in the Bassari country. The people here are very tight-knit and regularly organise large festivals and meals. They have been able to preserve their ancient customs and initiation rituals thanks mostly to their isolation from other peoples. To see tourists dressed in costumes like theirs during festivities gives them a real sense of pride and creates a lovely moment that is shared by all. A guaranteed change of scenery! Visiting the country is an occasion for tourists to discover something different and especially to participate in the festivals and traditions of the Bassari people. It's a trip that won't quickly be forgotten.
