Between Colonia Sant Jordi and Cala Mesquida is a series of isolated calas (coves), which are often hard to reach. 3 miles from the small traditional port town of Porto Cristo, and 45 miles from the capital Palma on the east coast of Majorca, Cala Romantica is a beautiful little beach where you can hire deckchairs and straw parasols for ?12 (£10) per day. You can also play beach volleyball and go sailing, windsurfing or kayaking. The setting is wonderful (a beautiful cove surrounded by cliffs), the water is clear and the sand is fine, but the beach gets very crowded in high season. A lifeguard keeps an eye on swimmers, and the danger level is indicated by a flag. Showers are available, as well as several bars and restaurants. Be aware, however, that they are not part of the all inclusive package!
Visit the Coves del Drach and Coves del Hams caves in Porto Cristo, just 3 miles from Cala Mandia.
The beautiful Cala Romantica and the magnificent Cala Mandia.
In winter, life in the seaside resorts comes to bit of a standstill. There is not much to do outside the capital Palma. There is nothing in Cala Mandia: you have to go to Porto Cristo, 3 miles away, to find the shops, bars and restaurants.
There is not much to do on site, so don't just stay in your hotel: hire a car and explore Majorca!
Tapas on the harbour in Porto Cristo or international cuisine from the all inclusive buffets in Cala Mandia's hotels.
Majorca olive oil and pearls.
