Can Picafort

By Amy Adejokun Amy Adejokun Section editor

Our Editorial team's advice

Ca'n Picafort is a seaside resort in the north of Majorca, not far from the huge Playa de Muro. The area doesn't have any extraordinary hotels, but the Viva Mallorca and its spa is worth noting.

To see

The stunning views of Alcudia Bay and Cap de Formentor. The superb Ca'n Picafort Beach marks the end of the huge beautiful beach of Playa de Muro, which stretches for 7 miles between Ca'n Picafort and the port of Alcudia. The sand is fine and white, although you will find some dried seaweed. The water is clear, but this also contains seaweed.

To do

A walk along the seafront promenade next to the beach. There are many bars, shops, restaurants and rides. Here and there you will come across real parrots and fake gorillas! There is also a cycle path for you to ride along. A trip to Cap de Formentor is not to be missed. You can also go for a wander around Albufera Natural Park.

pros

  • +  The proximity to the beautiful Playa de Muro.
  • +  The stunning views of Alcudia Bay and Cap de Formentor.

cons

  • -  The architecture of the hotels lacks charm.
  • -  The beach is surrounded by built-up areas.
  • -  The location far from the airport.

To think about

In Ca'n Picafort, the beach is not as nice as the one in Playa de Muro as it is located in a built-up town. You should also note that all signs are written in German.

To avoid

Avoid visiting the area if you are looking for peace and quiet.

To try

Burgers, pasta, pizzas and sandwiches.

To bring back

Memories of all things German...
