With its 123 mi², the park is a privileged stopping place for migrating species. Some 300 bird species are regular residents of the region. Some of the wild areas (dunes, swamps, and lagoons) were listed as a Natural Park in 1986 and 1993. Depending on the season, the landscape and the colours of the Delta are prone to change, thanks in large part to the proximity of numerous rice fields.
The main activity remains bird observation, encouraged by the numerous watchtowers. Various walks offer you the opportunity to discover the charming different aspects of the delta, especially the dunes, the marshes, the beaches, the lagoons, and also the surrounding villages of Tortosa and Miravet.
