The Canario Museum in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria is dedicated to the preservation of the Guanche culture. A tribe which originally came from North Africa, their presence on the island of Tenerife may go as far back as the 1st or 2nd century BC. On display at the museum are examples of the tribe's clothing and objects from daily life, as well as mummies that have been found in nearby funeral caves.
