Port Aventura is Europe's second most frequented entertainment park after
Disneyland Paris. This year, the Catalonian theme park celebrates its 15th anniversary and 50 millionth visitor. It is located on the Costa Daurada, one hour's drive (70 mi) south of Barcelona airport and a mere 10 minutes from Reus airport.
On a vast area of over 290
acres, visitors will discover a universe divided into
5 different cultures: the Mediterranean, Mexico, the Far West, China and
Polynesia. You will find attractions for visitors of all ages in each area of the park:
from gastronomy and typical local products to music that differs from one region to the next! In between two breathtaking rides, you might find the time to open your eyes again for
one of the many shows that are put on! Indeed, 24 hours will not be enough time to try out all the
different attractions. The park is open in summer from 10:00am until midnight and in winter
(around 20th September) until 7:00pm on weekdays and until midnight on
The 'Caribe Aquatik Park' is the second theme park in PortAventura and it includes an outdoor aquatic section (open in summer) and another indoor aquatic section. With an area of over 34,000m², this universe is dedicated to the Caribbean and the pleasures of the sea through shows, attractions, and endless waterslides. The busiest season is, unsurprisingly, summer time, from June to September, with peaks in July and August. However, the park has also been quite crowded in the last 6 years for Halloween celebrations, from the end of September to early November. You will discover and share all forms of fear, horror, and dread with family or friends. The hotels are also decorated in a way to inspire a mixture of shudders and nervous giggles. Then comes the magic of Christmas, a magic that fills the park from the end of November to early January, just before closing for the year, from early January to late March. The dates vary considerably from one year to the next. For its 15th anniversary, Port Aventura renewed its shows and since early July has been featuring an event called Celebration on Ice. As of this spring, a new theme zone for children under 12 is open with facilities that have been carefully designed so that younger children can have a good time in complete safety.
