Don't miss the Dalí Museum in Figueras, the most visited museum in Spain after the Prado. Though the major pieces of the master of Surrealism have today disappeared, the museum offers a fabulous insight into the universe of this genius of modern art through his different periods. The exterior of the building, an ancient theatre destroyed by a fire at the end of the Civil War, is in itself surprising. Inside, you walk around amongst works that are as unusual as they are absurd, such as the Soft Self-Portrait with Fried Bacon, Gala Contemplating the Mediterannean, or the Mae West room. A true treat!
