Built in 1929 for the Universal Exhibition, the Palau Nacional is today home to the National Art Museum of Catalonia. You can admire the world's best collection of Romanesque art, composed of wood sculptures and mural paintings in their original setting. The Gothic art section is also superb and helps us understand the evolution of picturesque art. Works by El Greco, Velázquez, Ribera, and Zurbarán are also on display.
