Discover The cube houses, Rotterdam The Netherlands

In the centre of Rotterdam, there is a strange forest where houses have replaced trees. Tilted at 45 degrees, the cube-shaped homes form a semicircle. Once reserved for the affluent, today they are only seen as a tourist attraction. Designed in 1984 as a contrast to the conventional urban landscape, these yellow and blue houses show all their sides when the sun shines and the shadows appear. Inside their walls, the courtyard has been taken over by small artisan shops. At the end of the visit, you will be able to explore the inside of one of the cubes (bookings must be made in advance). This is the best way to explore how the architect played with traditions and managed to combine the requirements of spatial planning.
