Passionate about whales? Have you always dreamt of getting up close and personal with one of the world's largest mammals? Explore this mysterious species at Loro Parque in Puerto de la Cruz on the north coast of Tenerife. Built in 1972, this theme park covers over 13 hectares. When the park first opened, its visitors were impressed by the park's diverse range of animals, and now the park lays claim to the world's largest collection of both penguins and parrots. More recently there have been new inhabitants added such as tigers, gorillas, chimpanzees, caimans, pelicans, jaguars, flamingos, sea lions, monkeys, and even a giant turtle from the Galapagos Islands. Today the park is easily one of the most alluring in the world and children will have a great time discovering and learning. Here the animals are half wild, left to roam free, within certain boundaries. The Loro Parque makes for a stimulating out of the ordinary experience.
