Villa Borghese is Rome's used to be a 17th century estate of Cardinal Scipione Borghese. The park covers a total area of 100 acres of wooded glades, gardens and grassy banks. The park has a beautiful landscape of Giardino del Lago, Piazza di Siena, which is an arena used for Rome's top equestrian events that are held in May, there is also a panoramic terrace on the Pincio Hill. Villa Borghese is a great place for film fanatics as the Casa del Cinema often hosts film-related events at the Piazzale San Paolo del Brasile entrance. The Cinema dei Piccoli is one of the world's smallest cinemas. The park is a great place for cycling, there are plenty of bike hire points, including the Bici Pincio kiosk which is in the southern part of the parker. Four-seater electric bikes are up for hire.

When you plan a visit to Rome, your first thought will naturally be the historical sites such as the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain and St Peter's Basilica. But did you know that the parks in the city are just rich with history too, and an added bonus is that they are completely free to visit.
