Alabama - Huntsville
Not far from the Huntsville Space and Rocket Centre, Huntsville Botanical Garden's Galaxy of Lights offers a drive through show that is out of this world. Don't forget the Tinsel Trail at the Big Spring International Park, an eye-catching display of Christmas trees for the community to enjoy.
Alaska - Anchorage and the Northern Lights
Anchorage has to be one of the best places in Alaska to participate in Christmas festivals. These include the Christmas Arts and Crafts Emporium, the Holiday Train on the Alaska Railroad, and even the Family Holiday Pops Concert. From there, you can take the Aurora Winter Express to Fairbanks, where the natural Christmas lights are at their best.
Arizona - Flagstaff
Nestled cosily between the San Francisco Peaks, this town is the perfect environment for Christmas, with its quaint snow-covered streets and impressive decorations, not to mention the North Pole Experience! There, kids can meet Santa Claus, work alongside the elves, and enjoy some tasty treats. At the Riordan Mansion State Historic Park, peruse the lovely Victorian era holiday decorations and traditions.
Arkansas - Roland
At the end of the week every December, P. Allen Smith's charming home at Moss Mountain Farm is opened to visitors. The most delicious part has to be the gingerbread house... or is it the traditional Christmas lunch..?
California - Nevada City
Nestled in the foothills of the snow-capped Sierra, this gold rush town brings festive Dickens novels back to life. This town stages whole Victorian-style celebrations, complete with roasted chestnuts, period dress, seasonal choirs, and much more. Hand crafted artisanship and carriage rides down nostalgic streets take you back to yesteryear.
