The plan to build the first ever Monopoly hotel was announced earlier this month by M101 Holdings Sdn Bhd (M101) and American multinational play and entertainment company, Hasbro, which owns the world-famous board game license.

The hotel will be known as Manopoly Mansion by Sirocco and it will be a five-star hotel. It will have 225 rooms and will be located in Bukit Bintang.

Many are excited and it has already been planned that the hotel will have a Gatsby-like feel and feature a 1920's Art Deco design.

The licensing agreement signing ceremony between M101 and Hasbro was witnessed by Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz and Hasbro's managing director for South-East Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan, Jenny Chew Yean Nee.

In his speech, Nazri emphasized the uniqueness of the Monopoly Mansion. It will not simply just encourage visitors to stay longer but to also make repeat visits. He also believes that having thematic hotels would help boost the tourism industry.

Upon completion, the Monopoly Mansion will be managed and operated by M101's Sirocco Group.
