Each year, the Economist Intelligence Survey ranks the world's most expensive cities for visitors and residents. From Paris to Singapore, discover 7 cities that are part of the 2019 list!

    In 2019, Singapore was ranked the world's most expensive city for the fifth year in a row. The Asian city state is a wonderful place for sure, and it has quickly become the favorite destination of those looking for fancy restaurants and luxurious hotels! The city offers many wonderful activities such as the amazing Botanic Gardens, the National Gallery or the city's Universal studios, but you should definitely save a good amount of money before a trip to opulent Singapore.

    Along with Singapore, Paris was jointly named the world's most expensive city in 2019. It was ranked second last year but has been in the top 10 most expensive cities in the world for several years now. The city of love is praised for its series of iconic monuments and locations such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum or the Champs Elysées, but Paris is also the French city where rents and the general cost of living are the highest.

    Hong Kong is the third city that was named as the world's most expensive city along with Paris and Singapore. Rents, as well as prices of everyday items are generally higher than other surrounding Asian countries. Hong Kong has also been infamously named the most expensive housing market in the world for several years in a row. In 2017, a Hong Kong luxury house made the headlines after being sold for approximately 145 million pounds!

    New York City is one of the two American cities to be among the top 10 most expensive cities in the world, along with Los Angeles. The cost of living New York is higher than in other cities of the same area, and the Big Apple is also considered as the most expensive city in the United States with rents two times higher the average national rent. It's generally known for its high prices, partly due to the city's booming job market.

The price of restaurants, taxis, groceries and rents are generally more expensive than in any other Swiss cities, but the city has often been praised for its high quality of life! Zurich still remains one of the most popular destinations of Switzerland, thanks to its undeniable charm, its shimmering lake and its ideal location close to alpine mountains.
