Travelling can sometimes be a daunting experience. No matter how many lists you make, you can sometimes forget to pack the most basic things. However, we have made a list of some essential travel tips that will transform you into a savvy traveller.
Make extra copies of your passport and important documents
This may seem pretty obvious but many people forget to actually do it. Make electronic copies of all important travel documents so that if you lose the hardcopies then you will still have a way to access the information. If you want to go that one step further then you can even leave additional copies with a trusted friend or family member just to be prepared!
Take an extra bank/credit card with you
It's good to always have a backup just in case you lose your card or if it gets stolen. The worst thing would be stuck without any funds in a foreign country! Also, another tip is to use no-fee bank cards as you definitely don't want to be giving the banks your hard-earned money!
Put essentials in your carry on
It would be a nightmare if your checked luggage gets lost; even though the likelihood of this is very low, it is better to be prepared for the worst! So pack all your essentials that you can't live without in your carry on and maybe even a change of clothes just so you're not rocking the same outfit for days on end in the unfortunate event of your bags getting lost. In the instance that your luggage does get lost, we recommend taking pictures of your luggage and clothes; this will help identify it more easily and it will also speed up the process of your travel insurance reimbursing you.
Opt for hostels
Hostels are a super cheap form of accommodation, another plus about hostels is that they are a great place to meet new people! Travellers often end up making lifelong friends from the hostels that they stay in! What's more, hostel bars are also super cheap.
Take free walking tours
Free walking tours are some of the best ways to discover the city that you are travelling to. Not only will you learn more about the culture and background of the city you are in, but you will also be able to meet similar-minded travellers who you can befriend!
