Discover The Ruwenzori mountains Uganda

The Ruwenzori Mountains tower at an altitude of 16,400 ft, in the west of the country. All the peaks, including Mount Stanley (16,762 ft), are covered in everlasting snow and lush tropical greenery. It is an extremely humid region, although it is nonetheless still possible to hike. The best season for hiking is from the end of December to the end of February and from mid-June to mid-August, when the rainfall is not too heavy. From the forests of Semliki Valley National Park to the other side of the Ruwenzori Mountains, you will find a number of Pygmy villages which have unfortunately lost some of their authenticity because of extreme marketing. These villages as well as the hot springs near Sempaya are well worth a visit.
