With its huge viewing panel (the largest in the world at 32.8m-wide and 8.3m-high) looking out onto one of the walkways of the Dubai Mall, and more than 120 species, including exotic fish, manta rays and bull sharks, the 10-million litre aquarium causes quite the sensation. It offers a view you will never get bored of, which takes on a whole new dimension inside. Once you have paid for your tickets (which are quite expensive, with several options and packages available), you enter a 48m-long glass tunnel that runs throughout the aquarium and allows you to admire this aquatic world. It is a thrilling sight to see the divers come feed the fish at different times of the day, disappearing into a whirlwind of scales that reflect the spotlights. If, like them, you would like to get as close as possible to the marine fauna, especially the sharks, you can take a diving course or go on an actual excursion (cage snorkelling or scuba diving). The visit continues upstairs with the underwater zoo. Besides the incongruity of such a project in a shopping centre, the aquarium offers a great chance to walk around the different tanks of animals (lionfish, small alligators, otters and penguins) and teaches young people about the protection of species.
