The Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai offers an underwater themed restaurant, rated one of the 50 best restaurants in the world, beginning with a mock submarine ride. The experience begins with a mock submarine ride, and includes a chic environment, with tables placed around a giant glass aquarium, and a tasting menu in the evening ("à la carte" for lunch). The prices match the décor, and an elegant dress code and booking are required. However, since Dubai is turning into a Manhattan of the Gulf, it is also spectacular to have dinner in the sky, on the top floors of the new towers, overlooking the Palm Islands.
The restaurant's defining feature is the aquarium that adorns the centre of the space.
