Many would argue that a trip to London is incomplete without a visit to Covent Garden. Judging by the constant hordes of tourists which frequent the area, they would be right. Skirting the eastern edge of the west end, the former fruit and vegetable market is now indisputably one of London's centrepieces - a mecca for serial spenders and culture enthusiasts alike.
The district is centred around the covered Covent Garden Square, known for its famous market, take-away paella, live performance artists and numerous trinket stalls. The area is also dotted with cafés, restaurants and boutiques. It is always high season here, so come early.
