Discover Dunlace Castle United Kingdom

?Dramatic' is perhaps the most fitting word to describe the roadside views of Dunlace Castle, the former stronghold of the MacDonnell clan. Dating back to the 13th Century, parts of the castle have since been lost to coastal erosion, though much of the building materials were used for nearby buildings following the fall of the MacDonnells in the late 1700s.

The medieval ruins are situated on the cusp of a basalt headland which overlooks a nauseating plunge to sea. It is because of this that Dunlace provides some of the most spectacular photo opportunities in Northern Ireland. Head here on a misty day for eerie view of the abandoned castle against the backdrop of the sea.
