Discover Outer Hebrides United Kingdom

The Outer Hebrides, also known as the Western Isles, is the name given to the snaking 130-mile long archipelago which stretches into the Atlantic. Separated from the Scottish Mainland, they are an attraction unto themselves, skirted to the west by white sand dunes. A mild, oceanic climate accommodates the 28,000 or so peope who live on the 15 inhabited islands. A further 50 remain uninhabited.

From the Barra Head to the Butt of Lewis - the northernmost point on the Isle of Lewis and Harris, the largest in the region - virtually unexplored volcanic hills await the more adventurous of walkers.
