Huntington Beach is located along California's southern coast, almost halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego. It is a small seaside city with a few houses and a huge beach that has earned the title of "Surf City". Because of the particular current forming high waves which attract an endless number of surfers to the beach, surfing has become a genuine lifestyle here. It is not by chance that the mayor of this city is a former surfer and that, as of 5:00am, you can see surfers with their boards riding the waves before donning their work clothes. In short, Huntington Beach is characterised by the sea and the wind, as well as a sort of Californian nonchalance.
The small city centre has several boutiques dedicated purely to surfing, so it's no use looking for anything else.
A long beachside promenade links Huntington Beach to neighbouring beaches like Newport and Laguna, further to the south.
