Charm
Our pickThe Pulitzer is made up of 25 old houses and is an atypical hotel, with Amsterdam architecture. It is luxurious and charming and welcomes guests with simplicity in an authentic setting.
The hotel is 0.5 miles away from the station, and some minutes away by walk from the city centre, museums and stores.
In the hotel's corridors, every month, a new exhibition presents works of contemporary artists. These paintings are often original and are for sale for those who might be interested.
25 small houses dating from the 17th and 18th centuries were put together to create this 5 star hotel. The hotel extends across a row of houses. Inside courtyards, staircases, floors, and corridors make this building a true maze. The hotel is well-planned and has small lounges, spread a little everywhere. Ideal to find some intimacy and serenity. And on sunny days, go to the gardens where tables and armchairs are placed.
235 simply but tastefully decorated rooms: dark wood furniture, comfortable bed, parquet floor, opaque curtains (that are closed for you at night!). Rooms have an antique charm mixed with present comfort standards. Minibar, satellite television, and small chocolate on your bedside table in the evening, you are being spoiled. All rooms are decorated and organized in a different way and offer a view on one of the three inside courtyards, on the street or on the canals. Bathrooms are small but have a bathtub. And to please women, beauty products and a scale.
A restaurant open to all, serves a tasty and dietetic cuisine. On the menu, calories and fat content are indicated. Even vegetarians have their dishes. Clients can see the dish preparation thanks to the kitchen located behind a bay window. On the other side, they can admire the view on the canal. Expect to pay ?25 to ?35 (£20 to £27) per course.
To drink something hot, go to the cafe, a pleasant place which used to be an old pharmacy. On the wall, a large painting seems to date back to the 17th century. But, when you come closer, you note contemporary characters. This artwork reveals the spirit of the hotel that welcomes behind its old walls modern ideas and artists.
Finally, during the day, the "rendez-vous", a small shop located in front of the reception area, serves croissants and coffee.
