Here is a hotel that, as its name suggests, is rather more suitable to smaller budgets. You will not find great luxury here, and the soundproofing and the air conditioning system leave something to be desired. There is only one real advantage: you are two steps away from the Acropolis.
This is the main advantage of the hotel. It is located about fifteen minutes away from the touristy district of Plaka, at the foot of the Acropolis. You can reach there either by following one of the major urban highways, or by taking one of the parallel pedestrian walkways.
The Economy is a hotel for small budgets, located in the center of Athens.
The hotel is a square building of 8 floors and has 56 rooms (105 beds) for an elevator. It looks quite austere, located in a recess of the Kotzia Square. The Athenas Avenue, one of the main streets in the city, passes a few dozen meters from the hotel's façade.
The comfort of the rooms is reduced to a strict minimum. The building is small and clean, but do not expect great luxury. Note: there is a television with a Greek channel and several programmes in English and a telephone with direct international dialling. The air conditioning works poorly or not at all. And the windows in all the rooms overlook the street, which is extremely noisy, and are not double glazed. You have to choose between heat or noise! The bathrooms are modest, clean and equipped with a shower and toilet.
The hotel has no restaurant service, except for breakfast, reduced to its simplest form (coffee, fruit juice, croissant, jam, ham, cheese, bread and butter).
