Diving into the wonderful Dubai of Laure and Matthieu

Dubai is the perfect destination for a couple's holiday. With just the two of you, the city quickly becomes a romantic place, with its enchanting shows, authentic walks and unforgettable activities. Laure and Matthieu, the star couple of the TV show 'Mariés au premier regard' (Married at First Sight), were able to enjoy a number of different experiences in the city of the United Arab Emirates. Activities that helped them create memories worthy of a fairytale. From the desert to old Dubai and the Marina, we take a look at what they thought were the must-sees.

Time travel in old Dubai

Far from the skyscrapers, old Dubai often impresses tourists, who are struck by the striking contrast between the old fishing village and the modern city. The Al Fahidi district, with its maze of narrow streets, is a great place to lose yourself in and admire the wind towers and architecture typical of this area, which used to be home to fishermen and pearl sellers. The architecture really impressed Laure and Matthieu.

"On the first day, we discovered the ingenious and clever architectural details that go hand in hand with Arab culture. "

This is also where you'll find the Dubai Museum, where you can learn more about the Dubai way of life. The couple continued their visit by taking a traditional boat, an abra, to the spice and gold souks. Between the woody smells, the spices and the colours, you can't help but be"amazed by this district".

A magical evening at La Perle

"It was truly marvellous, it's a beautiful memory", were the words used by Laure and Matthieu to describe the show La Perle, which they were lucky enough to attend during their stay in Dubai. The show, which combines dance, acrobatics and water shows, is a real nugget in the city. It appeals to all audiences, even children. For over an hour, spectators forget their everyday lives and are plunged into a magical world. At the end of the show, these tableaux remain etched in the audience's memory forever.

A feeling of flying at Sky View Observatory

We headed to The Adress Sky View hotel to take in a panoramic view of the city from the two-storey observation deck. A glass lift takes you up to the 53rd floor, where the couple can already see the city below them. Once there, the panorama was sumptuous*: "You can see the whole of the Palm and the Crescent, which is impressive*," reports Laure. You can also see the skyscrapers, the fountains and the waters of the Persian Gulf. Above all, you feel very small in front of the Burj Khalifa. To get back down to the 52nd floor, a glass slide allows you to realise your blue dream by sliding on a carpet that gives the vague impression of flying for a few seconds. A magical experience.

Take a cruise along the Marina

Dubai Marina is one of the city's liveliest spots. Surrounded by skyscrapers and facing the harbour where numerous yachts are moored, it is pleasant to stroll along The Walk. Here you'll find plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants where you can enjoy grilled fish overlooking the beach, for example. In the evening, there are cruises along the Marina, where you can enjoy a romantic dinner in front of the illuminated buildings. Without a doubt, this is one of Laure and Matthieu's must-visit destinations in Dubai.

Discover the desert and its traditions

Like the icing on the cake of a trip to Dubai, the desert and its orange dunes are well worth a visit to admire the beauty of the scenery and enjoy the activities. During their stay, Laure and Matthieu were able to go on safari in the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve. There is a wealth of wildlife here, and tourists can spot gazelles, oryx and all kinds of birds as they stroll through the dunes. In the evening, a typical dinner around a campfire awaited the couple, who met the Bedouins. A timeless experience.

Laure's good advice:

"Start your visit in old Dubai with a local guide, it's the ideal way to learn about the history of the city and its anecdotes, without a guide we wouldn't have learnt as much. The best thing is to get around by car and plan your activities in advance, as everything moves quickly on site!"
