Christmas at the castle

Dublin Castle transforms into a cheerful festive haven this December, right in time for the holidays. Combining its long history with various Christmas activities, the castle’s event is warm and invites everyone to share in the holiday spirit. From December 6th to December 19th, the castle opens its doors to visitors to come enjoy a festive market, musical performances, a vintage carousel, and so much more. It’s an ideal festive day out, with something for the entire family. Open from noon to 9pm, the event is completely free to enter and is an ideal way to get fully immersed in the Christmas spirit. You can find out more about the event here.

Christmas drive-in movie theatre

There’s something about watching your favourite Christmas movie that just instantly puts you in that holiday spirit. Retro Drive-in offers a large selection of Christmas movies to see at the drive through this December. Whether your favourite is Elf (2003), It’s a Wonderful Life (1946), or Love Actually (2003), they have it all, and you can check out their Christmas scheduling here. Please note drivers need a working car stereo in order to watch the film properly, and tickets can only be purchased directly from the Retro Drive-in website.

See the lights at Dublin Zoo

Like stepping into a magical world, the Dublin Zoo Christmas lights are something to behold. Each year, the Dublin Zoo puts up the most magical lights, and this year’s theme “The Enchanted Zoo” might just be its best yet. Step into an illuminated world of wonders, where you’ll be greeted by fairies and wizards and all sorts of wild animals. It’s the perfect activity for the entire family to enjoy a festive evening of fun.

The lights are on from the 16th of November 2023, into January 2024, every day from 5pm to 9pm. Adult admission tickets cost 24,50€ and kids tickets cost 20€. Children under 3 go free. You can find out more information about the event on the Dublin Zoo website.
