The most beautiful beaches in Cyprus

When we talk about dreamy beaches, we all think of Sicily, the Cyclades or the Balearic Islands. But if the Mediterranean islands are very popular, there is one island that surprisingly remains very much under the radar, even though its beaches have nothing to envy its neighbors. Turquoise water, endless fine white sands and amazing weather, Cyprus is a real dream and still very much protected from mass tourism. So let's take a closer look at 6 Cypriot beaches, which are as beautiful as varied, meaning that everyone can find something to suit them.

Aphrodite's Rock, the legendary

Aphrodite's Rock is one of the most beautiful beaches in Cyprus. According to legend, it was there that Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty, was born, emerging from the sea. The view of the long white pebbled bay with its impressive rock formations is breathtaking, and the beach can be reached by a small tunnel, making it the ideal place for a romantic picnic at sunset. People also love its calm and shallow water, perfect for cooling off on a hot summer day.

Nissi Beach, the festive

Near Ayia Napa, Nissi beach is the Cypriot spot to party and dance the night away, but also the beach where party people come to recover from their sleepless nights. The long white sandy beach is bordered by crystal clear waters, and is equipped with sunbeds, bars, and restaurants... Water sports enthusiasts will also find something from jet-skiing and towed buoys to scuba diving. On summer evenings, there are DJ sets on the beach to dance with your feet in the sand and the Mediterranean as the only horizon.

Lara Beach, the wildest

Lara Beach is bound to please nature lovers and those who enjoy the great outdoors. For a start, the only road leading there is a sandy track several kilometers long. Although the track is accessible to city cars, many tourists are discouraged by the difficulty, so Lara Beach is often deserted. This is good news for us, but also for the sea turtles that come there to lay their eggs. There are no sunbeds or restaurants, just golden sand, rough sea and a real breath of fresh air.

Coral Bay, the family-friendly

Not far from Paphos, Coral Bay is very popular with families who are looking for fine sand, as other beaches in the area are mostly pebbled. Children can swim in the shallow sea while parents watch them from their sun loungers. Besides, the beach is very well equipped with restaurants, bars and water sports facilities, but it is still peaceful and beautiful. Surrounded by limestone promontories studded with vegetation, it offers a picturesque and pleasant setting.

Kourion, the historic

The archaeological site of Kourion is home to the ruins of an ancient city dating from the 12th century BC and, from the Greco-Roman amphitheater, you can see a wild beach below, bordered by towering cliffs. It is Kourion beach, just a few minutes away from the famous archaeological site, and yet rather neglected by tourists. There is even a restaurant and a few sunbeds there, making it a beach where you can stay for hours, enjoying the sun and the unusual setting.

Despite being just next to the city center of Larnaca, is a very pleasant beach that has been awarded the Blue Flag for its cleanliness and level of service. It is a great place to relax under a beach umbrella after visiting the city's monuments and museums. Plus it is also bordered by a promenade lined with majestic palm trees, coming alive with a festive atmosphere in the evening.
