The best places to party in Madrid

Spanish people are famous for partying hard, and the capital is proof that this is more than true. There are bars and nightclubs that are so good they make it worth waiting for the metro to reopen to go home. Whether you like reggaeton, electronica or jazz, it doesn't matter; there's a bit of everything. Here's our selection:

Kapital Theatre

This is one of the largest discotheques on the continent. It has seven floors, each with different music, so if you get tired of reggaeton -on the fifth floor- you can move to the third floor, where there is electronic music, or go to the main floor, where you can listen to the hits of the moment or have a guest DJ. It is one of the largest nightclubs in Europe and offers multiple floors with different styles of music.

👛Price:

  • General admission: Varies between €20 and €30 depending on the season. This ticket includes a drink.

📍Adress:

Joy Eslava

This is one of the oldest discotheques in Madrid (since February 1981!) and it has remained over the years because it is a total success. It is a stone's throw from Plaza del Sol, and like Kapital, Joy Eslava also has many floors (4), each with a different genre of music.

Teatro Barceló

This is also a classic of the Madrid party scene, which since the 1930s has been welcoming people who want to dance. Formerly known as Pacha Madrid, this club welcomes you in what looks like an old movie theatre, but as you change rooms the decoration takes you to other themes. Obviously, the music changes too, and you can find House, Club, some reggaeton and commercial pop.

👛 Price:

General admission costs €20 and includes a drink.

📍Address:

Calle Barceló, 11, 28004 Madrid.

Subway L1 or L10 - Tribunal

Opening hours:

Tuesday to Sunday, from 00:00 - 6:00 AM.

Sala el Sol

This is known as the cradle of the movida madrileña. Always with a full bill, it's a place to go to see big concerts, although they also have clubbing nights, with DJs who make people thunder on the floor from all that dancing.

It's not the best place for those who want to listen to pop hits, but rather for those who enjoy Latin and African-influenced rhythms, scatted and remixed.

👛 Price:

Depends on the event of the night, can range from €3.5 to €20.

📍 Address:

C. de los Jardines, 3, 28013 Madrid.

Opening hours:

Wednesday to Sunday, 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM.

Fabrik

On the outskirts of Madrid, this gigantic club, which seats 4,000 people, hosts the biggest techno, house and trance parties in Spain. The club is made up of two large hangars, with large-scale lighting equipment and ice machines to fill the gigantic space with smoke.

Mondo Disko

👛 Price:

Regular ticket costs 23€ and includes a drink, which must be redeemed before 1:00 AM.

📍 Address:

C. de Alcalá, 20, 28014 Madrid.

Opening hours:

Only open Thursdays, Saturdays and holiday eves from 11:55 PM - 8:00 AM.

Ocho y Medio

In the heart of Malasaña, Ocho y Medio hosts long-established DJs and concerts, especially by up-and-comers. It is a pop music venue, but for them this means many things: "we play indie, different types of urban music, rock, oldies, what we like from the mainstream, cumbia and electronica".

👛 Price:

The cost of admission depends on the show each night. You can check their billboard here.

📍 Address:

C. de Barceló, 11, Local B, 28004 Madrid.

Opening hours:

Only open on Fridays and Saturdays from 00:00 PM - 6:00 AM.

Café Berlin

This club has a very different mood to the others, with a few more intellectual touches. This place is perfect for those who enjoy a great live music show, but who like jazz, flamenco or a bit of Italian folk. But as the night progresses past one in the morning, the red velvet chairs move to make tracks and connect with the house and dance DJs.

👛Price: Depends on the event of the day. You can see the programme here.

📍 Address: C, Cost.ª de los Ángeles, 20, 28013 Madrid

Opening hours:

Every day from 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM, but this may change, depending on what shows are on.
