Given the dimensions of the hotel you could be forgiven for expecting an impressive number of guest rooms... so you'd probably be surprised to find that the Hôtel de Rome has "only" 146 of them, divided between no fewer than nine different categories, including 43 suites. It will all no doubt become clearer when we tell you that the standard room size is between 35 and 38m2! Although they vary in terms of size and layout (which is inevitable in an old and protected building), the design is almost identical in all of the rooms, with low-key contemporary decor in shades of red, black and grey. In addition to the basic amenities (television, phone, safe, mini-bar, etc.) you'll also find the rooms here have certain little extras to make your stay more pleasant, including an iPod dock and a DVD-player and a bathroom which not only has both a bathtub and a shower but also speakers so you can listen to the TV while you brush your teeth! Only the four "Historic" Suites, housed in the former bank managers' offices, provide different surroundings which break entirely from the overall style of the hotel and will take you right back to the 19th Century, with parquet flooring, wood panelling, an LCD fireplace, fur blankets, etc. As a rather sad anecdote, you might be interested to know that some of the walls still bear bullet marks from the Second World War.
