Located near to the old town, the Centrum is a small comfortable hotel suitable for a couple spending a weekend or short stay there.
Located in the Sirkeci district, the Centrum hotel is on the corner of two small streets and a 5-minute walk from the train station (2,297 ft). It is best to use this mode of transport to save time and explore the whole city. The Grand Bazaar is 2,297 ft away, the St. Sophia Basilica and the Topkapi Palace 656 ft away and the Blue Mosque 984 ft away. You can also take a taxi, which is cheap, although this option is less practical due to traffic jams.
The hotel has 48 bedrooms. The standard ones are basic but quite well equipped. The spotted fitted carpet is rather dated but all the wooden furniture is recent and the area is generally pleasant. The golden colour of the bedspreads and curtains is quite pretty and matches the rest of the room well, as this is done out in shades of white. The downside of the bedrooms is that they do not offer very good views. The bathroom is clean but very basic and particularly narrow. Finally, as far as facilities are concerned, the safe deposit box is not in the bedroom but in the reception, there is a television, and the telephone line is direct and international.
Built in 1993 and renovated in 2004, the Centrum is a small hotel, the entrance to which is spacious enough for you not to feel cramped. This area is done out in shades of off-white and wood and is adorned with various green plants everywhere you look. The lounge area, which is particularly elegant, has wooden coffee tables with glass tops and impressive armchairs in a beige material. Other leisure facilities consist of a single computer available for those wishing to connect to the Internet and the "Amerikan Bar" (which incurs an additional charge), which is located on the first floor and overlooks the lobby. With a plasma television screen, black leather armchairs and glass tables, this place can be very pleasant for a private evening. The only problem is that you have to pay for access to the sauna and Turkish bath. This well-being area is on the 2nd floor and is open from 10.30am to 10pm every day and also contains a massage room (available at extra cost). It is clean, but not very inviting.
One of its strong points is the Terrace restaurant on the 6th and top floor of the hotel. This restaurant offering panoramic views is stylishly decorated but rather plain. Beams with a wooden finish and lovely wooden chairs and tables and wooden flooring make the place pleasant, and from here you can appreciate the view of the Topkapi Palace, the St. Sophia Basilica and the left (Europe) and right (Asia) banks of the Bosphorus. The cuisine served is local and international and rich in flavours. The most common package at the hotel being "bed and breakfast", you can have breakfast, which is served in the form of a buffet, between 7am and 10am. Lunch and dinner are served à la carte or as set menus, between 12pm and 2.30pm and between 7pm and 11pm.However, you should be aware that gulls can pay you a visit and keep you company during meals whatever the time of day!
It is an ideal base for exploring the city's main historical monuments. You can also see them from the hotel restaurant, which has a panoramic view.
massage, beauty salon, sauna, Turkish bath
The Celal Sultan is a small hotel on a human scale, located near the old town's main historical sites. A charming, finely decorated residence for enjoying the interests of old Istanbul.
A set of four buildings from the 20s, the Merit Antique is a hotel full of history. It is also the most charming and comfortable place in the Laleli district, in the old town, a few tram stops from Sultanahmet.
Located in Istanbul's business and tourist district, this is a decent hotel with no particular appeal but which does offer pleasant living areas, such as the brand new wellness area.
This is not a luxury hotel. Its location is perfect for discovering the town (on foot or by taking a tram or taxi).
Maybe choose to have lunch and/or dinner away from the hotel, as the food services here are limited, without forgetting the bar, which isn't very attractive.
A cosy hotel close to the main tourist areas of the old town. A nice pied-a-terre in the heart of Sultanahmet.
This modest hotel has the advantage of being close to the centre of Istanbul. It is also located near Gülhane Park and the Galata Bridge, where groups of fishermen supply the restaurants below.
It is an establishment that will suit those who do not have high expectations and are just looking for budget accommodation for their stay in Istanbul.
The Yasmak Sultan is a nice hotel in the heart of Sultanahmet. In summer there is a beautiful panoramic terrace with a great view of Topkapi, the Saint-Sophie Mosque, and the Bosphorus.
The Golden Horn Sultanahmet is stylish but suffers from too much decor. Nevertheless, it does offer the considerable advantages of a very favourable location, fine panoramic views from its rooftop terrace, and a few ground floor guest rooms suitable for guests with reduced mobility.
The standard rooms are fine for couples but if you are bringing your children you might find them a bit cramped. In this case, you'll be best off opting for rooms in the superior category, which are more spacious and more appropriately designed to the occasion.
As its name indicates, the Sumahan on the Water is a little world on the water. Inside, it displays a balance of lines and shapes that create a modern style and is never cold. This is a bit of a surprise given the exterior aspect of the building, which management wanted to keep as nondescript as possible.
This effort to go unnoticed speaks of the attention afforded to the guests, in terms of welcome, service, and cuisine. The Sumahan blends luxury and attention to detail together with know-how, efficiency, good taste, and quality.
It also commands one of the finest views of the Bosphorus there is. It really is in a league of its own.
This is a prestigious hotel offering the services of large European hotels combined with oriental charm. The setting is incredibly romantic, making the Ciragan Palace an ideal location for any honeymoon and all types of celebration. It is undoubtedly one of the best hotels in Istanbul.
The Four Seasons is indisputably the most charming place in Istanbul. Nothing is left to chance in this old restored prison: neither decor, nor service. An excellent place to enjoy top-class service in the heart of one of the most beautiful historical sites in the old town.
Like the phoenix, the Çiragan Palade has risen from the ashes to produce a high-ranking and very charming hotel. An exceptional location by the Bosphorus in order to stay in the same place where sultans lived.
This luxury hotel is of a very good standing. This hotel is made for those seeking excellent comfort as well as numerous and impeccable services. Its only downside is the distant location.
An elegant, quality international hotel for business people and holidaymakers. Great food too.
The Hotel Hilton in Istanbul offers all the standard comfort of large business hotels, but this place is also suitable for tourists and anyone who wants high-quality services. It is rare in Istanbul to find a hotel with a large landscaped garden.
Located close to the business quarter and the best bars and nightclubs in Istanbul, the Intercontinental Ceylan offers all the services of a top international hotel. A practical and comfortable place with no unpleasant surprises.
