The four-star Kalyon is a small luxury hotel where special care is taken to nurture a particular kind of atmosphere.
It attracts holidaymakers and business customers alike, and has a large, modular conference room with folding partitions to tailor the dimensions to different kinds of meetings and specific occasions.
The style of the hotel is quite sophisticated, without being flashy, and it does exude a certain charm. Nevertheless, the security inspections at the entrance are over the top, and initially, at least, the level of luxury appears to fall far short of that promised on the website
In fact, this first impression created by the entrance inspections is contradicted, at least in part, by the special attention paid to 'etiquette'.
The ground floor space is well organised, stretching from the lobby to the restaurant on one side and the conference room on the other. Every evening, a piano is played in the bar, enhancing the sophisticated ambience of this well-decorated room which also provides table service.
It is a pity that there is no gym or spa; maybe these will be given some thought in time for the next renovation.
