It's no surprise that a world class city boasts a world class hotel scene. There are very few cities where you can find hotels wherever you go, from simple, no-frills properties right up to world famous hotels which sit at the top of the table in terms of luxury. You don't have to spend a fortune in London either, with quite a few low-cost chains having opened up in the last few years and not necessarily in the back and beyond of the city either. Location is an essential criterion when choosing your hotel given the size of London. Most people want to be right in the centre so as to be close to the main attractions, which is understandable with transport costs being among the most expensive in Europe. However, if you've already done all the tourist stuff and want to discover and experience another side of London then there are several areas which have started to develop in the last few years, such as Shoreditch or Old Street, which are worth considering. The disadvantage of doing this is that your transport costs will go up, as will the time you spend getting around, which in a city of London's size can be considerable.
