The Courthouse is to be chosen for its location (close to the long Oxford Street), as well as for its design comfort. One of the most prominent "boutique hotels" in London.

    Location 6.41 /10

On Great Marlborough Street (Oxford Circus Underground), in front of the Liberty department store and a 5-minute walk away from the shopping-popular Oxford Street. The major monuments and attractions are located 10 minutes away by subway (direct to Charing Cross on the Bakerloo line).

    Accommodation 9.90 /10

All 116 rooms at the Courthouse, ranging from classical to the suite, provide a very high level of comfort regardless of the category. You should be less demanding, however, on the view because the Courthouse is surrounded by buildings, thus the rooms overlook other buildings that are sometimes very close. Concering the accomodation, there is nothing to complain about: the rooms are 35 square meters on average. They are furnished in a sleek manner, with a dressing table topped by an oval mirror and decorated with a triptych of abstract painting. The walls are white, the carpet is beige and the bedspreads are the popular Scottish plaid. The bathroom, with a black marble washbasin, has a bath tub, a hair dryer, bathrobes and home skin care products. Other facilities include: a wide screen television, telephone, Internet, air conditioning and minibar.   As in most luxury hotels in London, there is no tea / coffee kit in the room.

    Overview 9.45 /10

The reception of Courthouse impresses with a showroom of Art Deco style. A leaded glass window overlooks the counter, in front of which three shell-formed seats are arranged. Therefore, it outstands with a focus on design, found predominantly in the halls leading to the bar. A strengthened optic effect is attained with two-tone columns and sofas in matchable nuances. The areas for relaxing (including an indoor swimming pool, a fitness room and spa) are also very successfully done. Glimmering under the play of joyful applications, the swimming pool of 10 x 10 meters is overhung by a skin care cabin with transparent walls. The place offers unique treatment procedures in its spa centre called Sanook.

    Food and drink 9.20 /10

The Courthouse offers its customers the comfort to have breakfast in a covered patio. The room, built around a central palm tree, is lavishly sunlit. The buffet offers rich choices for gourmet fans (smoked salmon) and a variety of other dishes. Toasts and hot dishes are served at the table. At lunch and dinner, in The Carnaby - a restaurant in informal but still neat ambiance - you can order a hamburger with fries, salad, a pasta dish, a piece of meat or grilled fish. In the evening, The Silk, a restaurant located in the former courtroom of the local court, offers a menu of Eastern specialties in harmony of the place's name, the Silk Road.  . With its alcoves rearranged from the former prison cells (which still exhibit a bed and a toilet), the bar of the Courthouse is also a popular location for a drink after an afternoon shopping tour.

    To know

Opened as "Boutique hotel" in June 2005, the Courthouse is unique in that it is housed in a former court. Some adjustments have been retained, for example the old cells in police custody and the courtroom. The former turned into alcoves adjacent to the bar and the latter currently houses a restaurant serving Oriental specialties. Original design, attention to the decoration (see especially the beautiful Art Deco touches in the lobby) and the medium-sized arrangement of the space (one hundred rooms): this is, in fact, the definition of a "boutique hotel". The first of its kind to open in London was the Sanderson, whose design is a masterpiece by Philippe Starck.

The Sanderson is one of those hotels in the world that you just have to stay at, at least once. It is a must for its unusual decoration (not that of a classic hotel) and 'way out there' atmosphere, whether you stay to dine or have a drink. Wealthy regulars will spend several nights here.

This hotel is a safe choice in the district of luxury hotels (the Ritz is in the area), a location adapted to high class shopping, or for strolling around Green Park. You should also note that the Meridien Piccadilly has a swimming pool as well as a gym. Which will allow you to plan a sports session before dinner. In the restaurant illuminated by a glass roof. The setting and service are worth trying out.

After being closed for over a year and a half, this mythic luxury hotel reopened its doors in 2008 following major renovations. This establishment is without question a living legend and has hosted a fair few celebrities over the years, many of whom would now have difficulty recognising the place since its major makeover. The Langham also took advantage of this time to build a fantastic brand new spa. In a nutshell, this is a great place to stay (provided you have the means) or even just to visit if you happen to be passing by!

Standing in the very desirable Piccadilly district, the appropriately named Soho Sanctum Hotel opened the doors of its sanctuary in summer 2009. You won't need a spa and a host of massage treatments to feel good here though. The small scale of the hotel, its meticulous decor, and the impeccable service provided are enough to relax the body, mind, and soul. This small hotel will appeal to all types of clientele and particularly young couples.

This legendary chain hotel, which has stood at the heart of the British capital for over a century, really needs no introduction. This uber-famous chain has only 3 European hotels, namely in Madrid, Paris, and London. Although they all are run independently of each other, they all share an exciting history and provide ultra-chic surroundings, from the communal areas to the huge guest rooms. Do be aware though, that if you're planning on visiting this legendary establishment, if only to partake of its traditional afternoon tea, you will need to show your credentials, be appropriately dressed, and have a nice full wallet.

In very much the same way as the opening of The Savoy caused tongues to wag furiously back in 1889 with its electricity, new fangled lifts and en suite bathrooms, the reopening after three years of renovation on 10th October 2010 was the biggest talking point in the British, if not world, hotel industry. Brought back to its full Art Deco and Edwardian glory, The Savoy is now bigger and better than ever. The jewel in the crown of London's hotels now has several new features and much of what came before has had a full face lift. Immaculate rooms, exquisite dining and the finest of décor make of The Savoy the only place to stay in this town. It proves that class is timeless.

The beautiful gothic St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, now almost 140 years old, is located right next to King's Cross St Pancras, which might not be in the most glamorous of neighbourhoods, but the hotel's 1800 period charm is unbeatable. The enormous hotel raised to the grey London skies with its stern-looking clock tower and turrets, looks extremely daunting, but once inside, the atmosphere is cosy and warm. A great place to stay for business people needing to be close to the station, but also a fun and unusual experience for leisure guests. The only hotel in the country to be built right on the railway, the St Pancras Renaissance is one of a kind; if you do not decide to stay here, try dropping in for a coffee or lunch at The Booking Office or Gilbert Scott.

The exclusive St. James's Hotel and Club is appropriately tucked away discreetly at the end of a cul-de-sac behind The Ritz on Piccadilly. While perhaps not quite of the same standing as its West End neighbour, the property is nonetheless a class act and has a history and following to rival that of any London hotel. The guestrooms are decorated and appointed to the highest standards and feature every amenity expected of a place like St. James's. As well as Michelin star dining and a service of the utmost attention to detail, the hotel still operates as a club to the rich and famous so you never know who you will be rubbing shoulders with when you stay here. More of a couples' or individual hotel, the St. James's is the place to come for intimacy, discretion and privacy.

Don't let the appearance of this classical 19th century building fool you - although the inside is as elegant as its exterior facade, you're likely to find a few nice surprises in store. This may be due to the fact that this is no ordinary hotel! Instead, it is a 'large luxurious house', as the management likes to call it, located at the very heart of the elegant Kensington district and just a stone's throw from the park of the same name. You will definitely need to have a blank cheque book if you want to stay, or even just dine, at this 5 star establishment...

This former town hall in East London represents one of the most remarkable transformations of any building in the capital. While most of the edifice's original architectural features have been guarded, this has not been seen as an obstacle to introducing a highly contemporary design into the hugely spacious rooms, world-class restaurant and divine pool and gym. Add to this a unique art project, great service and a vibrant history and you get one of the most unconventional hotels in London. Recommended for all types of traveller, especially those who are tired of staying in the town centre and are looking for an alternative location.
