Overlooking the Aegean Sea from its elevated position on a rocky promontory, the Myconian Imperial affords an unobstructed panoramic view. The larger Royal Myconian, its sister establishment, is just a little further up. Very little sets these two buildings apart, as they were built on the exact same design. Even the rooms are exactly identical in both... A stay here is synonymous to leisure and relaxation; the splendid spa centre bears witness to this fact.

    Location 1.0 /10

The establishment is located near Elia beach. Mykonos town centre is almost 8 mi away from the hotel but it only takes 20 minutes to get there by car and just about the same to get from the hotel to the airport.

    Accommodation 8.20 /10

The 120 guest rooms offered by the hotel are spread out over 4 storeys. The standard rooms are spacious and decorated with modern elements and light-wood furniture. The pleasant and comfortable lounge area opens onto a balcony furnished with a table and 2 chairs. Despite all these efforts though, there is a lack of warmth in the surroundings. However, the amenities on offer are decent: a flat screen TV, safe, air conditioning, room service till midnight... Between the bathroom's grey walls, a rather elegant space with a whirlpool bathtub promises some relaxing moments...

    Overview 8.20 /10

We thought the welcome at the reception desk was quite haughty and not all that pleasant. However, once you get over this first impression, the atmosphere becomes more relaxed. The Myconian Imperial occupies a single multi-storied building boasting a Cycladic architectural style. From the lobby, the beautiful view of the sea can already be admired. The area is decorated with mouldings and columns but an added modern touch would be more than welcome. The mixture of old and contemporary furniture is not all that well thought out but the setting is comfortable enough. We found that the atmosphere was quite austere and not in tune with a holiday destination. The outdoor terrace is a fantastic place that offers an unobstructed view of the sea and the hotel's 2 large swimming pools. Their rounded shapes blend in nicely with the surroundings. Numerous sunshades and deckchairs have been laid out around the pools but we thought that the solarium terrace was a bit crammed. Here you will also find the hotel's spa centre, which uses "St Barth" products for its treatments. Seven treatment rooms are available as well as an outdoor thalassotherapy centre.

    Food and drink 7.45 /10

The only restaurant at the Myconian Imperial is also on the same level as the swimming pool and therefore benefits from the beautiful view of the pool, the sea, and the surrounding area. There are drapes adorning the furniture, which adds an elegant touch, but the tables have been placed too close to each other. There is also a large outdoor terrace that is highly enjoyable when the weather is nice. Breakfast is served as a continental buffet from 7:30am till 10:30am, while lunch and dinner are served à la carte. The menu shows a marked Mediterranean inspiration in the evenings, whereas lighter meals are served at lunch.

    Beach

This is not exactly a seaside establishment but there is a slippery and steep slope that leads down to the beach, so be careful! Once you're at the foot of the hill, the beautiful Elia bay is a wonderful place to discover. The shoreline is a stretch of relatively fine sand and the area is rather quiet, with the crystal clear water enticing you to take a dip. There are numerous deckchairs and sunshades lined up along the shore, but hiring one for the day will set you back £10.

    To know

The hotel has no facilities aimed at families and the clientele is therefore essentially made up of young people and couples. However, in summer you will come across a few families holidaying here. Bear in mind the hotel is only open from April till October.

The Royal Myconian is the mirror image of the Myconian Imperial, although the somewhat brisk service at this hotel doesn't quite match up to that of its twin. Standing on a rocky promontory, the hotel offer superb panoramic views including unrestricted views of the Aegean Sea, and despite its elevated position, it is nevertheless sheltered from the wind. This establishment is also part of the "Leading Hotels of the World" group, meaning that its facilities have to be of a high quality.

Don't be fooled by the name: there is nothing palatial about the Mykonos Palace. That isn't to say that this is not a high quality establishment. The name just seems to be a bit of an overstatement... This small hotel enjoys a prime seaside location on the beach of Platys Galios. Hard to get any closer... The facilities are a little limited but the establishment has everything you need for a relaxing holiday without being totally lost in the wilderness.

A member of the select Relais & Châteaux club, the Myconian Ambassador comes with outstanding credentials, the reasons for which rapidly become apparent as you discover the hotel's facilities. The service is of high quality and the setting is magnificent... Its elevated location affords an unobstructed view of the Aegean sea, but unfortunately this means it's not next to the beach. Don't worry though, the one at Platis Gialos is just a few steps away... The establishment is ideal for couples, but families are offered the warmest of welcomes as well.

Located just a few steps from the beach of Platys Gialos, the Petinos Beach enjoys a nice setting. It is one of the most beautiful sandy beaches on the island and therefore one of the most popular (a French Riviera ambience in the summer with sunshades, and the bars or restaurants that have grown along the beach). The hotel offers comfortable and very spacious rooms. It is located a little off-centre of Mykonos, however being only 2.5 miles away. There are no facilities for children, but you could easily imagine family clientele coming here.

The modern decoration in the common areas is evidence of this. In addition, there are few hotels in Mykonos with a space devoted to children, and the Santa Marina is one of them. Families are welcome! It is open during the summer season, namely from April to October.
