The San Marco stands a good way from the hustle and bustle of Mykonos, making it a good destination for those looking for relaxing surroundings. Its friendly and welcoming staff will do everything they can to make you feel at home here. Although the hotel offers a basic level of comfort, it is perfectly pleasant and fine for a few days' stay. The surrounding area is more or less deserted, which makes it the perfect place for relaxing and enjoying the peace and quiet. The hotel's clientele comes primarily from Europe, particularly Great Britain and Italy.

    Location 1.0 /10

The hotel is located in the small town of Houlakia and is rather isolated, with nothing in the immediate vicinity. Having said that, it does offer unrestricted views of the Aegean Sea, just 2.5 mi from the centre of Mykonos and 3 mi from the airport, both around a 10 to 15 minute drive away.

    Accommodation 6.95 /10

The San Marco consists of 86 guest rooms, cottages, and suites arranged to resemble a little Greek village. Inside, the good-sized standard rooms are basic yet pleasant, their blue colour scheme matching the dark wooden furniture perfectly and their exposed ceiling beams giving the place a slightly rustic feel. Each room has a balcony or a terrace equipped with a table and 2 chairs, whilst the basic amenities inside consist of a television, minibar, phone, etc. The bathrooms, on the other hand, are far less spacious and some of the installations could really do with updating.

    Overview 6.45 /10

The San Marco was built in steps leading down to the sea and features traditional Cycladic architecture. The hotel's facilities are housed in 4 small buildings of a maximum of 2 storeys each. The very professional George mans the reception desk, whilst the lobby itself is rather like the lounge in a private home, complete with old furniture and comfortable sofas. The room is also quite bright thanks to the large glass doors overlooking the terrace outside, from which you can access the hotel pool. The seawater pool is reasonably-sized and has plenty of wooden deckchairs and parasols surounding it. There is a little shop nearby but you'll need to ask at reception for the key if you want to go in, and the choice is rather limited. Furthermore, there is a special beauty room where you can take advantage of various treatments, such as a massage, a manicure, or a pedicure, among others.

    Food and drink 7.20 /10

Meals at the San Marco are served in 2 different places. Breakfast and lunch, for example, are served at the poolside Veranda Restaurant. The sparsely decorated and fairly gloomy indoor dining room is a lot less pleasant than the outdoor terrace, which offers views of both the pool and the sea. Breakfast is served as a continental buffet whilst lunch (which consists of a variety of salads and snacks) and dinner are served à la carte. However, the latter is served on the terrace above the restaurant facing the reception, which is a good idea given the sea views are even better from up here. In terms of the cuisine, you'll sort of feel at home: no effort is made when it comes to the presentation of the dishes but the quality is very good.

    Beach

The San Marco is not located on the seafront and the coastline below the hotel is a protected site. The nearest beach is at Agios Stefanos. It is a sandy beach providing very pleasant and relaxing surroundings, though other options include the beaches at Ornos, Platis Gialos, and Elia. Whichever you choose, you'll never have very far to go on this island. Indeed, a relaxed drive of a maximum of 20 minutes will take you to the furthest one. Paradise beach and Super Paradise beach are particularly busy in high season.

    To know

Despite the lack of facilities for children, other than the shallow pool alongside the main one, families are perfectly welcome at the San Marco. Having said that, you will come across lots of couples and groups of friends here.

The Grace Mykonos and its tranquil ambience provide a perfect setting that is further enhanced by the utter charm of the typical Cycladic architecture and the friendly and welcoming staff. The hotel opened in 2007, and its modern decor is perfectly in kilter with its facilities. What the amenities lack in quantity they make up for in quality.

      • Location -

There is no denying that the Alex hotel isn't a luxury hotel. Nevertheless, it's not uncomfortable either. It looks more like a boarding house than a hotel. Run by a Greek family, you may feel that the mother of the family comes across rather temperamental but in reality, she is rather nice. The amenities in general could do with some renovation, especially the decoration of the guestrooms. However, that would mean that the place would somewhat lose some of its charm...

The Mykonos Theoxenia is open since 1996. The hotel accommodates families but more than 90% of the clientele is composed of couples. Its very modern decoration gives a certain style to the place but it exudes a rather cold beauty. Those who are looking for animation will be interested in moving to another place.

A member of the select Relais & Châteaux club, the Myconian Ambassador comes with outstanding credentials, the reasons for which rapidly become apparent as you discover the hotel's facilities. The service is of high quality and the setting is magnificent... Its elevated location affords an unobstructed view of the Aegean sea, but unfortunately this means it's not next to the beach. Don't worry though, the one at Platis Gialos is just a few steps away... The establishment is ideal for couples, but families are offered the warmest of welcomes as well.

The modern decoration in the common areas is evidence of this. In addition, there are few hotels in Mykonos with a space devoted to children, and the Santa Marina is one of them. Families are welcome! It is open during the summer season, namely from April to October.
